Unfortunately, in the early hours of Monday 10 August 2026, a unauthorised person managed to obtain access to some parts of our computer systems. The unauthorised access was not the result of any failing within our office, but occurred via the computer systems one of our main distributors / suppliers, who has a remote access capability for some parts of our business systems. We have blocked that remote access capability.

We have acted quickly to restore and secure our computer systems, and have been able to return to close to a “business as usual” status. It does appear that some data was stolen in the attack, although the extent of it remains unclear. We are continuing to investigate this aspect.

We will contact customers and others if appropriate, when more information is available. In the meantime, if anyone contacts you purporting to be from Westco Cairns, please note that:

1. we will not be contacting anyone by telephone to discuss the incident or to ask for any information in relation to it;

2. unless you are a current customer dealing with our sales or service staff, we will not ask you to provide or verify any personal information by email. If you are a current customer, please call us to verify before providing any personal information.

You should not provide any personal information to anyone in response to such requests without verifying that it is a genuine contact.
